How to Remove Micro Ring Hair Extensions At Home Safely
Whilst we would never normally advise you to remove your hair extensions yourself, Lockdown has come as a surprise to us all and our usual hair regimes seem like a distant memory. We are hoping the current lockdown will end soon so that clients won’t need to remove their extensions; however, if you are concerned about the integrity of your hair then please follow our guide. This tutorial will show you How To Safely Remove Micro Ring Hair Extensions At Home.
To safely remove your Micro Ring Hair Extensions, please make sure you have the following tools; a Pin Tail Comb, 1-2 Hair Clips and Hair Extension Pliers. If you cannot get access to micro ring hair extension pliers, use pliers with a narrow tip. This will make getting to the small rings easier, as well as prevent you from squeezing the rings too hard causing the rings to crumple and fold.
Step 1 Always start at the base of back the head and work your way to the top, remove the sides after. Try to section out the whole row of Micro Rings, we recommend removing row by row. Clip the remaining hair out of the way for easier access.
Step 2 Use the pliers to take hold of the ring and slowly squeeze in the opposite direction t which they were flattened. Try squeezing lightly at first and only increase the pressure if the ring doesn’t loosen. Once the ring has widened, the extensions will release and should slide out easily. If the extensions have been worn for some time, they may need a gentle pull to release the extension away from the hair.
Step 3 Where the extensions have been worn, you may notice a little cluster of old hair and product residue. Do not worry this is completely normal. However, it is important that you comb this away so that you can thoroughly cleanse your hair. Using the tail of your pintail comb or your fingers, slowly prise apart the hair loosening the tangle. DO NOT go straight in with the comb and try to brush it out as this will cause unnecessary tension.
Step 4 Once the cluster has been pulled apart, it is now safe to comb through the hair. Make sure you do this for each extension, one by one. You should lose around 150 hairs a day (without wearing extensions). Whereas these would normally fall away in the shower or into your hairbrush, they are stuck in the rings. SO this hair needs to combed away. Do not be alarmed if you see hair in the comb.
PLEASE NOTE – If you are struggling to prise apart the cluster of leftover hair, try using a little of your Protein Spray or Hair Extensions Conditioner to loosen and lubricate the hair.
If you wish to have your hair extensions refitted after lockdown ends, then please keep your extensions safe. Tie them with a hair bobble and lay straight in a drawer or safe flat space, if possible. We always recommend washing with our Secret Human Hair Extensions Shampoo and soak in Secret Human Hair Extensions Conditioner or better still, our Secret Hair Rehab Masque before refitting.
